The WELLROOM CO is a wellness-focused knowledge platform for architects, designers, and anyone involved in the creation of spaces that aspire to support human health and wellbeing.

I’m Jodie Duddington — an Interior Architect with over 25 years of professional experience working across a broad range of residential and commercial project types. Over the past decade, alongside my design practice, I’ve undertaken a personal and professional deep dive into wellness modalities and healing environments, prompted by my  health journey.

Through this work, one thing has become increasingly clear:
the built environment plays a far more active role in our physical, psychological, and emotional health than our industry has traditionally acknowledged.

In recent years, the wellness industry — and the wellness real estate sector that supports it — has grown rapidly. Project briefs now routinely include requests for “wellness spaces”, “integrated wellbeing", or general “holistic” outcomes. Yet for many practitioners, the knowledge required to practically and  meaningfully deliver on these briefs remains fragmented, inconsistent, or buried across disciplines, without industry standard frameworks or metrics

At the same time, designers are expected to gather and apply unfamiliar or new knowledge around:
  • building science and material health
  • neuroscience and environmental psychology
  • biophilic and regenerative design principles
  • cultural, spiritual and place-based knowledge
  • emerging wellness technologies and practices
  • sustainable outcome for people, planet and profit

Often without the time, tools, or verified resources to do so confidently.
The WELLROOM CO was created to help bridge that gap.

The WELLROOM CO curates, verifies, and translates knowledge at the intersection of:
  • architecture and interior design
  • wellness and healing practices
  • building science and neuroscience
  • environmental psychology and biophilic design
  • ancient and contemporary spatial wisdom
  • United Nations Sustainable Development Goals + ESG (Environmental and Social Governance)
  • The Australian Government's National Wellbeing Framework

The WELLROOM CO is supported by long-form writing, curated research, practical tools, and the forthcoming
'Buildings That Heal Us' podcast — a space for deeper conversations about how buildings shape our bodies, minds, and lives. This work is driven by a belief that if we spend the vast majority of our lives indoors, then the spaces we design deserve far greater care, curiosity and accountability.

If you’re interested in exploring the deeper relationship between buildings, health and healing, you’re in the right place.

Feel free to explore the resources (watch this space for more to come soon), sign up to the monthly newsletter, or simply get in touch for a conversation about all things wellness and the built environment.

We recognise that architects and designers are time-poor professionals. Our resources are designed to be clear, accessible, and grounded — without oversimplifying complex ideas or defaulting to trends and marketing narratives.

Our aim is to help you :
  • save ALOT of time
  • build better briefs
  • ask more informed questions
  • make evidence-informed design decisions
  • deliver spaces that genuinely support human wellbeing

Not just in explicitly “wellness” projects, but across all sectors where people live, work, heal and gather.
